Lynette : married with 2 stepsons and a teenage daughter. I worked in operating theatres for 20 years before a move to Germany forced early retirement. It was whilst living in Germany that the first seeds were sown that finally blossomed into "Fairygodmothers". I discovered that there was a very real need to support those young mothers coping with the whole pregnancy "thing" away from the usual support of family and friends. So, I became a surrogate aunty. On returning to England, I discovered that it wasn't only ex-pats that struggled but that due to changes in society, this support structure was also missing in England. Having a mostly grown-up family now I found it possible, and what's more, rewarding, to work as a doula.

Monique : I live 2 doors away from Lynette with my husband Conrad, and 2 sons, Oliver (11) and Dominic (8). I worked as a childminder for 4 years before starting with "Fairygodmothers" in the summer of 2000. I have done various childminding courses, including "First Aid for Children" and my training is ongoing with "Fairygodmothers". I work as a post-birth doula and my aim is, in those traumatic first weeks and months after the birth of your baby, to help with the smooth running of your household, and to bring as much peace and calm as possible.
